Tired of feeling like your relationship is dysfunctional?

Couples therapy can help.

COMMON MYTH: Better communication will solve all conflict in a relationship.

TRUTH: Communication is key, but when one or both of the partners have experienced trauma, talking typically isn’t enough.

Are you constantly working on your relationship but finding it never gets better? Relationships often highlight our traumatic histories.

Even if you have good communication in your relationship, you might still…

  • Find yourself in the same old arguments that never resolve.

  • Feel hopeless and overwhelmed when “talking it out” fails to change the underlying dynamics of your relationship.

  • Experience chronic anxiety about your partner leaving or rejecting you.

  • Chronically people-please and attempt to manage your partner’s emotional experiences.

  • Feel exhausted and disconnected most of the time, despite putting so much effort into the relationship

  • Stress about the future because you feel unstable in your relationship.

  • Feel chronic emptiness or loneliness, despite being in a romantic relationship.

  • Worry that you are “too broken” to be happy in your relationship

We help you establish a safe space to share your experiences and make sense of your relational dynamic to feel more connected in your partnership.

Feel connected again.

Dysfunction in your relationship can feel like:

  • Obsessive thoughts about the most recent argument with your partner

  • Feelings of panic when things shift suddenly in your relationship

  • Worry about what how healthy your relationship is and whether it’s doomed

  • Feeling lonely and disconnected because you can’t quite seem to discuss hard topics with your partner

You might also feel:

  • Upset stomach after an argument

  • Rumination or racing thoughts about what was said

  • Frequent thoughts of “fighting back” better next time or fleeing the relationship to avoid difficult conversations

Trauma in one or both partners disrupts our ability to feel safe, supported and known by others, making romantic relationships feel hopeless or conflictual.

The good news? There’s hope when both partners commit to addressing the trauma and the dynamics occurring in the relationship.

Relational distress can start from many different places.

Our couples therapists start with helping you feel calm and connected while communicating with your partner.

Some of the underlying issues we address in couples counseling at Woven Trauma Therapy are:

Co-Parenting

We offer Couples Intensives for those addressing issues like betrayal trauma, communication issues, and difficulties coparenting shared children. Rather than weekly couples therapy, we offer two separate processing sessions, each lasting 3 hours. We help you identify your pain cycle, communication breakdowns, and trauma responses within your relationship. We then teach you self-soothing and nervous system regulation skills that you can use outside of therapy spaces.

We help couples live a calm and connected life again.

Chaos and conflict stop here.
