EMDR Quiz

Is EMDR right for you? Here’s a free quiz to determine if you might benefit from EMDR.

After trauma, you might find yourself asking questions like:

  • Will I always be haunted by my trauma?

  • Will I ever feel like myself again?

  • Can my trauma be treated by EMDR?

Trauma impacts every single aspect of life.

Trauma makes us question our ability to survive and that changes the way we relate to ourselves, our environments, and our relationships.

Here’s some of the ways that trauma can impact your life:

  • Trauma makes you question your safety in spaces that once felt calm and supportive

  • Trauma makes you question your sanity because your emotions and reactions can be really big at times.

  • Trauma can create fear, panic, and deep worry about what will happen next.

  • Trauma can make you feel easily triggered by smells, sounds, and experiences that were once enjoyable and fun.

What is EMDR and how can it help me?

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is an evidenced-based approach to trauma treatment and it can help those that are tired of feeling easily upset, triggered, or overwhelmed in the aftermath of trauma. EMDR can be helpful in directly processing with your traumatic memories or experiences in order to reduce distress and feel more calm in managing your day to day life.

EMDR treatment happens in phases.

  • First phase of treatment here at Woven is to collect a robust history of your experiences (both positive and negative) and understand the ways in which trauma has impacted your current functioning. We talk about your relationships, your nervous system regulation and the ways that we might address your experiences to reduce distress.

  • Second phase of treatment is to focus on creative internal and external resources that you can depend upon when trauma processing begins. We help you create safety in your home and work environments, address any concerns about processing your trauma, and help you feel connected to your therapist.

  • Third phase of treatment focuses on processing the identified traumatic events that continue to overwhelm and haunt you. By processing your trauma in the safety of the therapeutic relationship and with an experienced EMDR practitioner, we aim to reduce your distress dramatically.
